I have an extensive record in immigration deportation defense with successes in defending clients from deportation due to criminal convictions. I focus my expertise on successfully ensuring that a client’s immigration status is protected, in particular, when a client has a criminal record. I have a growing record of success in criminal defense work with the end of protecting the immigration status of the client. I have also successfully adjudicated difficult asylum, withholding, and CAT claims. In particular, I have had success with claims originating from Mexico and Central American countries. I also perform family-based immigration with some emphasis on the consular process and adjustment of status which require waivers due to criminal history or prior removals. I focus my criminal defense practice on immigrants and undocumented clients who stand to lose their current or potential immigration status due to a pending criminal conviction. I have succeeded in negotiating and defending criminal cases with the goal of protecting my client’s immigration status. Finally, I have extensive knowledge of state and federal habeas corpus law and have successfully used habeas corpus proceedings to protect clients from deportation.
